Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is a medical treatment that uses powerful drugs to target and kill rapidly dividing cells, including cancer cells. It is commonly used in the treatment of cancer to destroy cancer cells or slow down their growth and spread. Chemotherapy can be used as the primary treatment for certain types of cancer, or it can be used in combination with other treatments like surgery, radiation therapy, or targeted therapy.
Chemotherapy drugs work by interfering with the cell's ability to divide and multiply. Since cancer cells divide more rapidly than normal cells, they are particularly susceptible to the effects of these drugs
Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy is an innovative approach to cancer treatment that harnesses the body's own immune system to fight against cancer cells. Instead of directly attacking the cancer cells, immunotherapy focuses on boosting or directing the immune response to recognize and target cancer cells more effectively.
This treatment method has shown remarkable success in certain types of cancer and is being researched for broader applications across different cancer types.
Hormonal therapy
Hormonal therapy, also known as endocrine therapy, is a type of cancer treatment that targets certain hormone-related cancers, such as breast and prostate cancer. It works by interfering with the body's hormonal processes to slow down or stop the growth of hormone-sensitive cancer cells.
This therapy often involves blocking the hormones that fuel cancer growth or reducing their production. Hormonal therapy is commonly used in combination with other treatments like surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy to enhance treatment outcomes.
Bone Marrow Transplant
A bone marrow transplant, also known as a hematopoietic stem cell transplant, is a medical procedure used to replace damaged or diseased bone marrow with healthy stem cells. These stem cells have the ability to develop into various types of blood cells, supporting the body's immune system and blood production. Bone marrow transplants are commonly used in treating conditions like leukemia, lymphoma, and certain genetic disorders. The procedure involves transplanting stem cells from a donor (allogeneic) or the patient's own cells (autologous) after high-dose chemotherapy or radiation to eliminate diseased cells. It's a complex procedure that requires careful matching and monitoring.
Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is a type of cancer that originates in the cells of the breast tissue. It can develop in both men and women, but it is most common in women. Breast cancer forms when cells in the breast begin to grow abnormally and uncontrollably, forming a tumor.
Early detection through regular screenings like mammograms and self-exams is crucial for successful treatment. Treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormonal therapy, and targeted therapy, tailored to the specific type and stage of the cancer.
Precision Care Management
Precision health considers distinctions in people's genes, surroundings, and lifestyles and acquires treatment and prevention approaches based on patients' individual backgrounds and needs. Concurrently, this gives the medical team the means to better understand how complicated the human body is.
The two kinds of treatment most frequently used in precision medicine are targeted drug therapy (drugs designed to strike a precise target on cancer cells) and immunotherapy (medicines used to help the body's immune system assail cancer).
Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is a malignancy that starts in the cells of the lungs, often linked to smoking but can also affect non-smokers. It's characterized by abnormal cell growth that can spread to other parts of the body. Symptoms may include persistent cough, chest pain, and difficulty breathing.
Early detection and treatment are vital for better outcomes. Treatments include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, tailored to the cancer's type and stage.
